TOKYO VICE (HBO): OPENING TITLES (2022)
Combining 2D yakuza tattoo animations with 3D environments, we took audiences in a free fall into the underworld – mimicking the protagonist’s dive into the corruption underneath the neon glitz of Tokyo. Each object and illustration references metaphors we explore in the series: the dragon representing the yakuza having a golden chokehold over Tokyo, the meager tiger biting the dragon representing the police fighting yakuza goliath, and the fish swimming representing the journalists navigating between them all.
